Policy: Taxation & Accounting

Taxation
esaa facilitates the industry's contribution to the development of Federal taxation legislation affecting the energy sector. It also actively seeks clarity on relevant taxation issues through regular engagement with the Australian Tax Office and Federal Treasury.

esaa advocates tax policy changes through submissions and papers, consultative forums and letters developed in direct consultation with its network of taxation specialists from its member businesses.

A two-day workshop is held twice each year for the Taxation Managers' Network. These workshops play an important role in keeping members informed of new developments in taxation policy and legislation as well as valuable opportunities to network with other taxation managers from esaa.

Accounting
esaa regularly engages through submissions and papers with both the Australian Accounting Standards Board and the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee to seek advice and clarity on Australia’s adoption of international accounting standards and its impact on the energy industry. esaa also has a permanent representative on the Australian Accounting Standards Board’s Consultative Committee providing input into the Board’s ongoing work program.
