esaa promotes responsible economic, environmental and social management through effective corporate governance within a sustainable energy business and regulatory framework. In addition to complying with all statutory requirements, the energy supply industry pursues best practice in environmental and sustainability management.
The Sustainable Practice Framework recognises existing minimum standards of performance and sets ‘stretch goals’ to help esaa member businesses implement sustainability across their business over time.
The Framework has been developed to encourage best practice sustainability programs, improve voluntary sustainability reporting and share good environmental, community, governance and workplace practice within the energy supply industry. Signatories are encouraged to publicly report their sustainability performance.
The Framework takes into account the Global Reporting Initiative G3 Guidelines and its related Electric Utilities sector information. The energy indicators developed for the Framework have been referenced by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in a supplement to its Broad-based Business Reporting Framework.
Adoption of the Framework by esaa members is voluntary.
